Finally! It has taken a long time and a lot of support from friends and family to take this step into the blogging world. I have been lucky enough to find not one, but two passions in life: children and education. These two passions have guided me from the time I was very young being a nanny, to becoming an elementary school teacher, and finally to becoming a mother myself.
In 2008 I had my first teaching opportunity as an elementary school teacher. I had tremendous success, satisfaction, and personal growth in educating and helping children. It was more than a job to me, it was my life. The students in my class were MY kids. I devoted 100% of my time and attention on my career and it was without doubt, completely worth it.
In 2011, I became pregnant with my first son. I intended to continue teaching after he was born, and did so for one more school year (where I was then very pregnant with my second son). Being a mother changed my world. I loved teaching, I loved my students, I loved my job! But I missed my own kids… With the support of my husband, we made the decision that when my second son was born, I would begin to stay home and care for our children. Five years into teaching and I was closing that door. I remember turning in my letter of resignation to my principal whom I admired and respected greatly and crying. I was ecstatic to be starting this new journey in life and wanted nothing more than to spend all of my time with my babies, but leaving teaching was something I didn’t know if I could do.
Fast foward to present day. I am now a stay at home mom and homeschooling mama of FOUR boys. My passion to teach, desire to teach, and sense of joy I get from teaching has never faded. If anything, it has matured, strengthened, and deepened as I’ve begun this homeschool journey with my family.
More detailed posts regarding my personal beliefs, how I run my homeschool, curriculum, and more will be discussed in depth in future posts. Along with resources, ideas, and materials you can use for your own homeschool!
With the support of my husband, family, and friends, I bring to you, “Teach Me, I’m Yours” – a blog dedicated to current and future homeschool families; intended to coach, encourage, motivate, inspire, support, and grow your homeschool. I invite you to join me on this journey!
